Successfully doing so will grant you more Supplies and possibly other rewards each month. Eventually, you will be able to make contact with other regions and further establish the resistance. The reward is similar to that of Guerrilla Ops, except no mission has to be completed to claim it. When scanning of an area is complete, a mission might pop up to further complete that activity, but often it just gives you the reward with some flavor text as to what happened. The incentive to stop scanning and perform the Guerrilla Ops is twofold: you gain a reward (like Supplies, rookies, a scientist or engineer) and it will counter a Dark Event (see below). While scanning, Guerrilla Ops can pop up (similar to Abduction Missions popping up in EU). How long depends on the activity or mission. Flying from place to place with the Avenger takes time, and scanning for the objective when at the location also takes time. Instead, you seek out specific activities/rewards/missions you want to conduct. Time is no longer passed in Mission Control, waiting for something to come up. A mission that grants you a single Engineer is a fantastic reward, as they are very expensive to staff using Supplies. Engineers are also now required to excavate rooms (physically). The Engineer would increase recovery speed by an additional 100%. An example is staffing an Engineer in the Advanced Warfare Center, which speeds up the recovery time of your soldiers by default. Engineers can be staffed in specific facilities to increase their power output or increase the properties of said facility. Unlike EW, base defense can occur any number of times.Įngineers and Researchers are now named and customizable characters, just like soldiers. It will happen whereever your Avenger happens to be when they make contact. If not, a base defense mission will occur. There is research and possibly items available to counter this. The Avenger can become a target for UFO's. Instead, you are awarded Supplies (what credits used to be) and/or Alloys after excavation is done. In addition, excavating no longer costs credits. You use it to navigate the geoscape (see below). The difference is that this base is mobile. On top of that, there are 12 rooms in the ship to excavate for other facilities. It acts the same as the base in EU did, with Mission Control, an Armory (what Barracks used to be), Research and Engineering. Instead, your base is a hijacked, large alien ship. In XCOM 2, you no longer have a home base. (Note, I wrote this up across multiple days, it probably reads weird or has some double information) The Strategy Layer The Avenger Thought I might as well infect everyone with this disgusting hype. I'm literally booting up Enemy Within, having a great time, getting bummed that it isn't XCOM 2, exit the game, look up footage of XCOM 2, get excited, boot up Enemy Within and so forth.
